Abdul M. Omari, MPP '10, gave an opening keynote and workshop for new students entering the Humphrey School on August 30. New student orientation marked the largest gathering of students at the School since March 2020. The workshop was titled 'Small But Mighty: Combating Microaggressions'.  Student-led small group discussions were also a part of the workshop where students exchanged ideas on inclusivity.

This event kicked off New Student Orientation Week where new and returning students had the opportunity to meet colleagues in person, connect with their areas of study, and engage with alumni panels who shared their experience of being students at the Humphrey School.

Omari is the founder of AMO Enterprise, which focuses on leadership development and the inseparable ties to equity, inclusion, and diversity.  He served six years as an elected member of the Board of Regents at the University of Minnesota and currently serves on the University of Minnesota Foundation Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors for AchieveMpls, and Civic Eagle.
