Margaret Anderson Kelliher returns to the Humphrey School to share her take on Transportation Planning: State and Local Perspectives.

 

This discussion will be about the opportunities and challenges of implementing public works projects and programs, from planning and design through funding and politics, with an emphasis on the similarities and differences between state and local work.

About Margaret

Margaret Anderson Kelliher is the City Operations Officer for the City of Minneapolis. She previously served as the Director of the Minneapolis Department of Public Works and the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Prior to her work in government administration, she had a long career in politics, beginning with her election to the Minnesota House of Representatives, where she served as speaker, culminating in her 2010 bid for Governor. Margaret has also served as an adjunct instructor at the Humphrey School, where she has taught conflict negotiation. Margaret graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and earned a mid-career master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
