He is a plant Engineer at Ferrari Ghezzi Limited, one of Bolivia's main food processers, where he is responsible for production planning and control, mechanical maintenance and operations research. Ferrari Ghezzi's main plant is located in an important mining area of the Bolivian Altiplano, and it plans to expand and open new plants in other areas of Bolivia.

Mr. Arana holds an Industrial Engineering degree (from the Catholic University at Salta, Argentina (1979), and a Certificate in "Elaboration, Analysis and Formulation of Projects of Industrial Investment from the University of Buenos Aires (1980).
