Admitted Student Info
Congratulations on your admission to the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. We are delighted to welcome you to our community of scholars and activists. Please review the following important information regarding your admission to the Humphrey School.
Please indicate your enrollment decision by April 15th. You can do so by following the link to the Enrollment Form found in your official admissions letter from the University of Minnesota.
Spring Visit Days
To further explore the opportunities and benefits of a Humphrey School degree, we encourage admitted students to attend one of our Spring Visit Days:
The program for Spring Visit Day will run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m, with breakfast and lunch included. The day's events will feature staff, faculty, current students, and alumni of the Humphrey School as program-specific breakout sessions and the opportunity to sit in on a class.
Attendees traveling 150 miles or more to visit campus may qualify for a travel grant of up to $300.00. Apply for a travel grant.
Costs and Financing
We understand that a graduate school education is a significant investment. To assist students with their planning, the Humphrey School provides an overview of resources available through the Humphrey School, the University of Minnesota, and federal programs.
Requesting a Deferral of Your Admission
Admitted applicants may request a one year deferral of their admission. Requests for deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis. Deferral requests must be submitted using the online deferral form. If a one year deferral is granted, the student must:
- Complete the online Enrollment Form by indicating "Yes"
- Plan to resubmit an updated personal statement and resume directly to the Director of Admissions by merit based aid consideration deadlines (either December 15, 2019 or January 15, 2020) in order to be considered for aid in the following year, and by April 1, 2020, for all other applicants.
- Deferred applicants will receive a request to submit their updated materials in the fall of 2019.
Registration + Orientation
Before you can register and activate your admission to the University of Minnesota, you will be required to complete a series of online activities as well as the Foundations for Success program. More information about these activities will be sent in the late spring to all students who have indicated their plan to enroll. Former students of the University of Minnesota will also be required to complete these online activities before registering.
