May 1, 2024
Associate Professor Bonnie Keeler is a co-author of a new study, "The impacts of racially discriminatory housing policies on the distribution of intra-urban heat and tree canopy: A comparison of racial covenants and redlining in Minneapolis, MN," published recently in Landscape and Urban Planning.
The study, whose primary author is Humphrey School PhD graduate Rebecca Walker, presents the first quantitative analysis that compares the environmental impacts associated with redlining to another racially discriminatory housing policy—racial covenants.
Walker is now an assistant professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Illinois.
