STEP Faculty Research Minnesota's Weatherization Assistance Program
February 17, 2022

Associate Professor Gabe Chan and Assistant Professor Elise Harrington recently completed a study of Minnesota's Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), as stakeholders consider expanding the program.

The Weatherization Assistance Program, funded primarily by the federal government, provides free home energy upgrades to income-eligible households statewide, to help them save energy and ensure their homes are healthy and safe places to live.

Chan and Harrington's study provides a picture of Minnesota’s weatherization funding in comparison to 20 other states, and aims to inform a working group of stakeholders as they examine proposals to strengthen the program.

They presented their findings to the House Climate and Energy Finance and Policy Committee on February 17. Watch their testimony.
