About
Beck Mattson’s primary duties are research accounting and support (non-sponsored and sponsored) in coordination with the Humphrey research development coordinator, serving as Humphrey Cluster Director, back-up to Claire Stokes in Emburse Navigation support, Humphrey’s Department Card Administrator, and Humphrey’s Delegations of Authority specialist, serving as a financial department approver in the financial system based on policy and fund accounting, coordinating effort and reporting, budgeting including entry, planning, and support, and financial reporting.
Beck has been with the Humphrey School for nearly all of their University career, nearing 10 years, with one year spent at CEHD. Beck had started as a Principal Accounts Specialist and has moved up to be one of the two finance professionals for the school since returning to Humphrey in 2023. They previously served as the civil service representative for the Humphrey Executive Council from 2023 to 2025, as interim finance director for the school during spring and part of summer 2025, and as a review member of the Chrome River (now Emburse) system to incorporate end-user feedback from non-Financial employees to create opportunities to improve the University of Minnesota’s package and make system usage easier. They are currently volunteering for the Financial Management Advisory Committee (FinMAC)’s Financial System User Network (FSUN) subcommittee to guide financial activities and learning opportunities for the University community and represent end-user perspectives of financial policies, procedures, and systems; and the University of Minnesota’s new Subaward Best Practices group, focused on being a collaborative space where grants and contracts staff can share ideas, compare approaches, and work together to strengthen subaward processes across the University.
