Please join us for a conversation with Eleanor Sharpe, AICP titled City Planning in Philadelphia: Intersection of Politics, Planning, and Administration.

Eleanor will talk about her career path and how her perspectives about her leadership evolved over the past decade, shaped by global, national, and local issues and events including sustaining the importance of equity in planning.

About Eleanor

Eleanor Sharpe worked for over ten years at the City of Philadelphia, most recently as head of the Department of Planning and Development (DPD). DPD collaborates with various stakeholders, including elected officials, developers, and communities, to enhance, plan, preserve, and develop vibrant neighborhoods. Between 2016-2023, Eleanor served as the Executive Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission where she initiated the “Planning and Equity: A Commitment to Change” initiative, aimed at addressing and rectifying the historical injustices caused by the planning profession, especially within communities of color. Eleanor holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University and a Master’s in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
