New Book by Ragui Assaad Examines the Egyptian Labor Market
March 1, 2022

Global policy Professor Ragui Assaad is co-editor of a new book, The Egyptian Labor Market: A Focus on Gender and Economic Vulnerability, recently published by Oxford University Press.

Assaad and co-editor Caroline Krafft, an economics professor at St. Catherine University, explore how the Egyptian economy has responded to many challenges it has faced in the decade since the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings.

The book focuses on the extent to which the country has been able to create good jobs for its growing population, as well as particular issues facing women and vulnerable groups in the world of work. The analysis draws on data from the latest Egypt Labor Market Panel Survey, conducted in 2018.
