Associate Professor Jason Cao Inaugurated as IACP Chair
May 6, 2016—The International Association for China Planning (IACP) in October 2015 inaugurated Humphrey School of Public Affairs Associate Professor Jason Cao as chair of its board of directors. IACP is an organization of scholars, students, and practitioners from around the world who are interested in planning issues in China. Its mission is three-fold: (1) to serve as the bridge between urban planning researchers and practitioners in China and their counterparts in other countries, (2) to provide a forum for scholarly and professional dialogues, and (3) to form a lively and supportive community for its members.
Representing the University of Minnesota and IACP, Cao was invited to nearly 30 Chinese universities to present his research when he was on sabbatical leave in the 2014–2015 academic year. He also organized three international conferences, including the ninth IACP Annual Conference at Chongqing University. More than 400 scholars from about 20 countries attended the conference. The conference will produce three special issues in international journals, guest edited by Cao and his colleagues. With the diligence of IACP board members and friends, the IACP has become the leading international organization in Chinese planning society.
Looking forward to this summer, Peking University will host the 10th IACP Annual Conference June 30 through July 3, 2016.
