The Climate and Your Clothes - Bringing the Fashion Act to MN

Join us for a lunchtime hybrid webinar with Maxine Bédat, founder and Director of the New Standard Institute, and author of UNRAVELED: The Life and Death of a Garment. She will give an overview of the impacts the fashion industry has on climate, environment, and human rights, and give an update on the progress of the Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act (“Fashion Act”), a state bill that was first proposed in New York, and is building momentum across the country.

Join more than 15 of those delegates from across the University as they share their experiences and key takeaways from attending the negotiations and connected events.

Heidi Roop is the director of the Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership, an assistant professor of climate science in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, and an Extension Climate Science and Adaptation Specialist. Debating COVID-19 Vaccine Boosters: Public Health Strategy in a Shifting Landscape

Public health authorities in the U.S. are analyzing data on the long-term effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines and debating the need for vaccine booster shots. This webinar will bring together top experts in public health with different points of view. They will consider recommendations from the CDC that some populations receive a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine booster, the potential necessity for Moderna and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine boosters, and vaccination of children.

In this highly interactive webinar, panelists will discuss these pressing issues and respond to audience questions. This is the fifth webinar in the Consortium’s “COVID Controversies: Ethical Challenges in Research & Treatment” webinar series. Find more information and register here.
