The Gender Policy Report: 100 Day Launch
The Trump administration and 115th Congress will reach the 100 day milestone at the end of April. The Gender Policy Report invites you to join us for food, beverages and mini-TED Talks on the gendered implications of policy proposals advanced during these important opening days of the new presidency and congress. Leading up to the event, The Gender Policy Report will publish reflections on developments from our curators and collaborators by policy area.
At a time when federal cabinet secretaries, congressional leadership and the President of the United States are at worst demonstrably hostile to or at best not focused on gender equity, Gender Policy Report contributions clarify the gendered bases of policy practices and conflicts. They offer diverse audiences informed perspectives on how policies matter for gender equality and gender equity. Working across varied media platforms, including blog posts, videos and podcasts, the Gender Policy Report contributes to a growing national movement to hold institutions accountable for the facts, inform policy debates and improve public discourse. As “knowledge” itself is under attack and federal agencies that provide direct and indirect research and analysis to inform public policy development are suppressed, our mission is to harness increased interest among academic researchers and build their capacity to bring the best insights from scholarship and research to policy makers, journalists, civil society and advocacy groups and broader publics in a way that is timely for addressing serious policy challenges. Providing a reliable and truthful source of information in an era in which fake and biased news has become commonplace, the Gender Policy Report keeps gender equality and equity at the center of policy discussions where it should be based on public responses to the election.
