Bagels Beyond Boundaries: Crossing Boundaries for Worker Protection

Bagels Beyond Boundaries provides an informal space for students, staff, faculty, and the community to engage in discussion over bagels and coffee. Speakers from different sectors will illuminate examples from their own experience or research on ways to bring people together across boundaries to address a particular issue.

Join the Center for Integrative Leadership on October 1, 2019 from 8:30-9:30 am in Carlson School, room 1-132 for a Bagels Beyond Boundaries conversation with Aruna Kashyap, Senior Counsel, Women's Rights Division, Human Rights Watch.

Kashyap will speak about her work across sectors and geographies to improve worker protections in the fashion industry. Kashyap has worked doggedly and effectively across business, government and international organizations for the protection of garment workers in a number of countries, including Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Her work has exposed widespread abuses including sexual harassment, labor exploitation, retaliatory practices, forced and child labor and pregnancy discrimination. She has contributed to dramatic improvements in the transparency practices of global brands and to legislative and policy reforms at the national and international level, including in her work for a global treaty on violence and harassment in the workplace.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend, so we can be sure to have enough bagels and coffee for all.
