    About

    Michael Liu received his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy Engineering from Northeastern University Shenyang, China, and his Master’s degree in Social Development from the University of Sussex, England. He is the Vice Director at the Consultation Center of AIDS Aid and Health Service and a Consultant at Northeast Transgender Support Network, non-profit organizations which advocate for LGBTI+ rights and HIV/AIDS support services in Asia and the Pacific. Mr. Liu is responsible for grant writing for fundraising, project coordination, and organizational strategic planning. He also conducts community-based research and leadership building training workshops for the LGBTI+ community. He has served on the advisory and management boards of several regional and international organizations and networks that aim to help the development and fundraising of non-profit organizations worldwide. During his fellowship year, Mr. Liu will study effective human rights advocacy methods, and public policy implementation. He hopes to work with local media organizations to understand the practice of LGBTI+ rights and media freedom in the United States.
