    Ms. Zahra is Assistant Director in the Office of Auditor General of Pakistan. She is the first female provincial civil servant from Gilgit Baltistan. She supervises the preparation of detailed and audited records of government expenditures which are eventually submitted to the Parliamentary Public Accounts committee. She ensures implementation of accounting standards and financial legislation in compliance with financial regulations to attain fiscal discipline. Ms. Zahra has contributed to the health and education sectors of Gilgit Baltistan and collaborated with various social welfare organizations to launch several projects. She is an active supporter of girls’ education and women’s empowerment in the region. Her advocacy skills, including communications with the Federal Public Service Commission, has removed the bar for women in Gilbit Baltistan to appear in civil service positions. Ms. Zahra holds a Law degree from the University of Punjab in Pakistan. During her fellowship year she will study public policy tools to augment her knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analysis in public policy, gender discrimination and social policy, with the goal of designing interventions in the social sector and public financial management.
