Joel advises Master of Public Policy (MPP) students as well as advising student organizations. He also serves on the Humphrey School's Diversity Committee. He has spent a good part of his career dedicated to higher education. He attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, with a double major in political science and public administration. He completed a graduate degree in college student development at Appalachian State in Boone, NC. His professional work experiences in residence life, student activities, and orientation have led him to academic advising where he enjoys helping students define their academic plans and engage in activities to help them meet their goals. Currently, Joel is enrolled as a doctoral student in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. When not working, he enjoys exploring the Midwest, meeting new people, and travel. He loves independent and foreign films and spends a lot of time at any one of the Landmark Theaters in the area.
