SAMPLE REGISTRATIONS

As a manageable first semester course-load, we recommend that MPP, MS, and MURP students take ten to thirteen credits and MPA students take four to seven credits.

MPP (completed microeconomics prerequisite): 10.5 – 13 credits
1 PA 5003 Introduction to Financial Analysis and Management 1.5 credits
2 PA 5002 Introduction to Policy Analysis 1.5 credits
3 PA 5011 Public Management and Leadership 3 credits
4 PA 5021 Economics for Policy Analysis and Planning 3 credits
5 PA 5031 Empirical Analysis (can substitute an elective course if you have prior coursework in statistics) 4 credits

Could take PA 5002 in spring and take concentration or elective credits instead.

MPP (not completed microeconomics prerequisite): 10.5 – 13 credits

1 PA 5003 Introduction to Financial Analysis and Management 1.5 credits
2 PA 5002 Introduction to Policy Analysis 1.5 credits
3 PA 5011 Public Management and Leadership 3 credits
4 PA 5031 Empirical Analysis (can substitute an elective course if you have prior coursework in statistics) 4 credits
5 One, 3-credit concentration or elective course
(i.e., PA 5511 Community Economic Development)
3 credits

Could take PA 5002 in spring and take concentration or elective credits instead.

MURP: 11.5 credits
1 PA 5031 Empirical Analysis (can substitute an elective course if you have prior coursework in statistics) 4 credits
2 PA 5004 Introduction to Planning 3 credits
3 PA 5013 Law and Urban Land Use 1.5 credits
4 PA 8201 Environment and Infrastructure Planning 3 credits
  or PA 8203 Neighborhood Revitalization Strategies and Theories 4 credits

Could take both PA 8201 and PA 8203 the first year -- and take PA 5013 in the second year -- for a total of 14 credits.

MS-STEP: 9 credits
1 PA 5031 Empirical Analysis (can substitute an elective course if you have prior coursework in statistics) 4 credits
2 PA 5021 Economics for Policy Analysis and Planning 3 credits

Could add additional concentration or elective credits.

MPA: 4 credits
1 PA 5941 Leadership for the Common Good 4 credits

Could add additional concentration or elective credits.

Current Events

August 26: 
11am.  Cedar-Riverside Tour (meet in HHH Atrium), followed by lunch at Acadia Restaurant (12pm)

11am-1:15pm.  HHHCtr 131:  PA 5031 Waivers.  Bring your transcript, syllabi, and waiver form for faculty to review to determine if you are eligible to waive PA 5031. 

August 27:
11am.  Cedar-Riverside Tour (meet in HHH Atrium), followed by lunch at Acadia Restaurant (12pm)

8pm: Humph night (join your fellow HHH students at Tracy’s Saloon (2207 E. Franklin Ave.)
