Changing Your Faculty Advisor

This page provides detailed instructions on how to change your faculty advisor.

  • Select the faculty person that you would like to have as your faculty advisor
  • Make an appointment (or go to office hours) to discuss your request. Be prepared to articulate, in a professional manner, your reason for requesting that they be your faculty advisor
    .
  • If the person agrees to be your faculty advisor:
    • Complete and submit this form (paper) to HHH 280
      OR
    • Ask the advisor to send an email approving your request to hhhss@umn.edu
    • As a professional courtesy, inform (email is fine) your former faculty advisor that you have changed advisors.
