Dr. Hedblom is a professor, lawyer, and consultant. She currently is the director of the Telecommunications and Information Society Policy Forum and adjunct professor at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota, and professor of politics and communications at Augsburg College.

She also has been an international communications fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

In 2002 she served as executive coordinator of the World Summit on the Information Society, a United Nations Summit, located in Geneva,
Switzerland. She has worked extensively in the United States, Europe, and Asia as an expert and consultant on a wide range of telecommunications and information policy issues.

Her consulting practice includes a varied list of local, state, national
and international clients in both private and public sectors. She tends to work in the space where innovation occurs. Her consulting work covers telecommunications, broadband and Internet issues in community broadband development, entry of new services, private/public network collaboration agreements, consumer and user needs, digital issues in pubic safety, health care, and education, among others. Suggestions for program topics are regularly proposed by program participants and reflect current and
prospective public policy and industry developments in technology,
legislative and regulatory arenas. It is the policy of the Forum to invite representatives of diverse interests and viewpoints to participate in Forum programs. The Forum is convened by the Director and moderated either by the Director or a guest moderator. When the Director moderates a program and has a current consulting relationship with a program participant, that is announced at the program and noted on the website.
