Biography

Paula Prahl recently accepted the position of senior vice president for strategy and marketing at Data Recognition Corporation. Prior to this position, Prahl was the senior vice president for communications, public affairs, and corporate responsibility at Best Buy, where she helped to set the strategic direction and management of the retailer’s global voice, reputation and corporate citizenship.

Prior to joining Best Buy in 2001, Prahl drove policy direction, community engagement and growth of the company’s government business as the vice president of government and community relations for Honeywell. Previously, she focused on business issues and education reform as the director of policy at the Minnesota Business Partnership. Prahl began her career in higher education administration as the director of student affairs at Wheaton College in Massachusetts.

Prahl is an active and past board member of a number of organizations, including the Public Affairs Council, Business Civic Leadership Center, National Retail Federation, Retail Industry Leaders Association, Scholarship America, Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Minnesota Retail Association, Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities and the United Way of the Twin Cities.  

Prahl holds a bachelor of arts degree from Smith College and a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota.
