Urban housing and redevelopment
Peggy Lucas is founder and principal of Brighton Development Corporation, a Twin Cities housing and redevelopment organization specializing in urban housing and redevelopment. She is a member of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission and has long involvement with women’s sports, having chaired the University of Minnesota Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Council. She currently serves on the advisory board and the executive committee of the merged University of Minnesota athletic departments. Lucas is a former national director of the League of Women Voters and has served on the University of Minnesota Foundation board and as a regent of Saint John’s University. Lucas is a member of the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable and the International Women’s Forum and also serves on the Art Space board of directors and the U More Park board of governors. In the past, she served on the Meet Minneapolis board of directors.
Lucas is a University of Minnesota graduate, receiving a bachelor's degree in history as well as a master’s degree in social work. She served in the Peace Corps in Iran and worked as a caseworker on the Navajo Indian Reservation.
