Civil, administrative, and criminal law
Judge Mimi Wright sits on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, where she reviews civil, administrative, and criminal cases. She is a member of Minnesota Judicial Council and Minnesota Courts Public Trust and Confidence Working Group. She was a member of MSBA Task Force on the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct from 2002 to 2003. In 2002, she was the Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel Member.
Before joining the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Wright served as a judge of the second judicial district in St. Paul, Minnesota, and as a trial judge in the District Court of Ramsey County. Between 1995 and 2000, she was an Assistant United States Attorney for the United States Attorney's Office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While there, she was a member of the economic crime and major crimes sections. She engaged in all aspects of federal criminal prosecution, including jury trials and appellate practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She prosecuted complex fraudulent schemes and violent crimes.
Between 1991 and 1995, Wright was an associate at Hogan and Hartson in Houston, Texas, and Washington, D.C. She also clerked for Honorable Damon J. Keith, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Detroit, Michigan. She is the recipient of the Minnesota Women Lawyers Myra Bradwell Award (2006) and the Lena O. Smith Achievement Award (2004).
Wright is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard University Law School.
