Kjell Bergh is the chairman and CEO at Borton Volvo and Borton Overseas, an international tour operator.
Bergh has served on the boards of many organizations and academic institutions, including Gillette Children's Hospital, Sons of Norway Foundation, Vinland National Center, American International Automobile Dealers Association, World Press Institute, and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum. He is a trustee emeritus and member of the executive committee, chair, and audit committee at Macalester College, as well as regent emeritus at Augsburg College.
Bergh has received three royal decorations. In 1996, he was awarded Knight First Class, Royal Order of Merit by H.M. King Harald of Norway. In 1983, he was awarded St. Olav Medal by H.M. King Olav of Norway and in 1988 received the Gold Medal, Royal Order of the Polar Star, from H.M. King Carl Gustaf of Sweden. His other awards and honors include AIADA Lifetime Achievement Award (2001), Scandinavian Hall of Fame (1997), and Automotive Hall of Fame (1996).
Over the past 30 years, Bergh has provided, planned, and executed ground and air transportation for the Royal family of Norway in the United States and Tanzania. He also has provided transportation support for the Royal family of Sweden and several heads of state in Minnesota over the past 30 years.
Bergh took prerequisite courses University of Oslo before completing a bachelor of arts degree in international relations with a minor in journalism at Macalester College in 1970. In 1998, he studied Kiswahili at the University of Minnesota and, in 2004, he completed a master of arts in international relations at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
