Biography

Dean Abrahamson, professor of public affairs and planning, researches the intersection of energy and environmental policies, particularly in the choice between nuclear and renewable energy supplies. He also serves on the University's graduate faculty in conservation biology and biophysical science.

Abrahamson holds degrees in physics and mathematics, as well as a doctorate in medicine. He has worked as a reactor physicist with the Babcock and Wilcox Co. and as senior research scientist with Honeywell, Inc. He has consulted with many state, national and international firms and agencies. He has taught in the University of Minnesota's School of Medicine, the Institute of Technology and the College of Liberal Arts. He has held visiting appointments at the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology, the University of Iceland and the Department of Environmental and Energy Systems of Lund University in Sweden. Abrahamson is a trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council and a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
