| PANEL DISCUSSION ABOUT MINNESOTA'S REPUBLICAN PARTY AND CONSERVATIVE IDEALS ON JANUARY 22
What is conservatism? What are the defining ideals of this political movement? As the 2008 primary season heats up, these questions are being asked across the country. Commissioner Steve Sviggum will lead a panel of local political experts in a discussion about Minnesota’s Republican Party and conservative movement from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, in Cowles Auditorium. There is no charge to attend this public forum.
Commissioner Sviggum, the former Republican speaker of the House, will be joined by Bill Cooper, former chair of the Minnesota Republican Party, Representative Mary Liz Holberg (R-Lakeville), and Jeff Blodgett, executive director of Wellstone Action. Professor Larry Jacobs will moderate the discussion.
The program is sponsored by the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance (CSPG), a research and outreach center at the Humphrey Institute. Founded in 2005, CSPG strives to increase public understanding of politics through high-quality analysis, public programming, and civic engagement.
