| DEAN ATWOOD HONORED BY TUFTS UNIVERSITY FOR GLOBAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO PUBLIC CITIZENSHIP
Dean J. Brian Atwood has received the Dr. Jean Mayer Global Citizenship Award from the Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts University. The award was established in 1993 to honor the former Tufts president by bringing to campus distinguished practitioners to challenge and inspire Tufts students. Atwood delivered a lecture about foreign aid and assistance on February 22.
The citation on the award reads as follows:
“In recognition of your lifetime of stellar leadership and distinguished public service around the globe; in admiration for the extraordinary portfolio of your activities, tackled with integrity and vigor; for your tireless efforts at government reform and more focused development strategies in one of the most distinguished tenures as the Administrator leading the U.S. Agency for International Development; and for your commitment to the nurturing and support of the concept of international public citizenship.”
During his visit, he also participated in the 2008 Norris and Margery Bendetson EPIIC Internation Symposium on “Global Poverty and Inequality,” sponsored by a program at the institute.
