| Professor Kleiner named 2007 Juran Scholar Humphrey Institute Professor Morris
M. Kleiner has been named a Juran Scholar with the Joseph
M. Juran Center for Leadership in Quality. Created in 2004, the Juran
Scholars Awards are designed to encourage faculty from various disciplines
to work with external companies on real-world problems.
All scholars are asked to consider the relationship between quality and productivity
in the workplace. Under these guidelines, Kleiner has chosen to explore Changing
Incentives for Production Employees in the U.S. and Mexico: Quality Impacts
on Establishment Outcomes. He will investigate whether human resource
policy changes within a firmin concert with changes in manufacturingaffect
the organization's ability to develop higher quality products while increasing
performance.
I expect this information will be of interest to firms concerned with
the relative productivity and quality of U.S. and Mexican facilities and to
policymakers who are required to evaluate the impact of the North American Free
Trade Agreement (NAFTA), says Kleiner.
Founded in 1993, the Juran Center is housed at the University's Carlson School
of Management. Click
