| Becky Lourey to give policy speech at the Humphrey School August 23
Sen. Becky Lourey, DFL candidate for governor, will outline "A Smarter
State Fiscal Policy: Fair Taxes, Quality Health Care, Safer Streets, and Stable
Schools" from noon to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, in Cowles Auditorium.
Lourey's remarks will be followed by an open question and answer session with
the audience. The event-which includes a light lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m.-is
free and open to the public. No registration is required.
Lourey's policy speech is part of a series of talks known as the Candidate
Forum. Hosted by the Center
for the Study of Politics and Governance, the summer series has featured
policy speeches from candidates running for public office in Minnesota is an
effort to nurture substantive discussion on important policy issues. As part
of the series, Amy Klobuchar (DFL-endorsed Senate candidate) and Gov. Tim Pawlenty
(GOP-endorsed gubernatorial candidate) spoke earlier this summer.
