Sue Jeffers will give policy speech at the Humphrey Institute August 17

Photo of Sue JeffersSue Jeffers, GOP candidate for governor, will talk about "Taming the Beast: Regaining Control of a Runaway Government" from noon to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, August 17, in Cowles Auditorium. Jeffers's remarks will be followed by an open question and answer session with the audience. The event-which includes a light lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m.-is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Jeffers's policy speech is part of a series of talks known as the Candidate Forum. Hosted by the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance, the summer series has featured policy speeches from candidates running for public office in an effort to nurture substantive discussion on big policy issues. As part of the series, Amy Klobuchar (DFL-endorsed Senate candidate) and Gov. Tim Pawlenty (GOP-endorsed gubernatorial candidate) spoke earlier this summer.

For more information on the event, contact Ellen Tveit at (612) 625-8330 or tvei0002@umn.edu.
