| Bobbi Cordano named Assistant Dean of the Humphrey Institute
The Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs has named Roberta "Bobbi"
Cordano assistant dean of the school. She will work directly with Dean J. Brian
Atwood to provide leadership in strategic positioning, interdisciplinary partnerships,
and public engagement within the community. She will begin August 14.
"The Humphrey Institute is a place for world-class education, innovative
research, community gatherings, and rich policy discussions. As we move forward
with new initiatives to meet ambitious goals, Bobbi Cordano will be an invaluable
asset," said Atwood. "We are thrilled she accepted the challenge."
Cordano joins the Humphrey Institute after serving as director of Disability
Services at the University of Minnesota since 2000. Prior to that, she worked
in Minnesota's Office of Attorney General from 1990 to 2000 as both assistant
and special assistant attorney general.
"Thanks to the outstanding leadership of the faculty and staff, the Humphrey
Institute is poised to move forward with momentum and progress," said Cordano.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the dean and other leaders
on developing strategies and resources to increase collaboration within the
University and in the community locally and nationally."
Cordano graduated with honors in sociology from Beloit College and received
her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. She is a member
of the Minnesota Bar. She is an alumna of the Humphrey Institute Policy Fellows
program and was an inaugural recipient of the Hubert H. Humphrey Public Leadership
Award.
