| ARIZONA REP. JIM KOLBE TALKS SOCIAL SECURITY, TRADE AND POLITICS AT THE HUMPHREY INSTITUTE APRIL 25
The Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs Policy Forum and the Center for the
Study of Politics and Governance will host "A View from Capitol Hill"
featuring Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.) from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, at
Cowles Auditorium. Kolbe will join Humphrey Institute Senior Fellow Tim Penny
in a candid conversation covering topics such as Social Security reform, trade
and the political environment of the 109th Congress.
Kolbe chairs the Subcommittee on Foreign Relations, Export Financing and Related
Programs, and is a Republican leader in the areas of free trade and open markets.
He is an advocate of Social Security reform and the creation of personal accounts,
and a leader and proponent of immigration reform and strengthening border security.
Penny, a former congressman and national expert on Social Security reform,
has co-directed the Humphrey Institute Policy Forum since 1994. Previously,
he worked in Washington, D.C. representing Minnesota's first congressional district
from 1982 to 1994.
