NORWAY'S CROWN PRINCE TO VISIT THE Humphrey School OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway will visit the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs for a special appearance from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Cowles Auditorium. The program will feature a lecture by Ambassador Knut Vollebaek on the "Opportunities and Challenges in the High North: Energy Resources and the Environment." The visit from the Crown Prince is presented in partnership with the Minnesota International Center (MIC), the Royal Norwegian Consulate General, and the Norsemen's Federation.

Following brief remarks from the Crown Prince, Ambassador Vollebaek will discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Norway and the High North, which have significant potential for petroleum development. Increased economic activity in this area poses particular challenges with regard to the fragile environment. Ambassador Vollebaek will outline how Norway seeks to safeguard her national interests, support political stability, and encourage sustainable development in this area through international co-operation.

This program is part of a three-day visit the Crown Prince will make to the Twin Cities Oct. 18-20 as part of Norway's centennial anniversary program in the United States. There is no cost to attend this event, but space is limited and advanced registration is required. To register, visit MIC online or call (612) 625-4421.
