| BRYSON AND CROSBY TO DISCUSS THEIR BOOK AND SPEAK ON LEADERSHIP APRIL 20
Humphrey Institute Professors Barbara Crosby and John Bryson will discuss their
recently revised book, Leadership for the Common Good from 4:30 to 5:30
p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Wilkins Room (215 HHH). This event is free
and open to the public.
When it was first published in 1992, Leadership for the Common Good
presented a revolutionary approach to community and organizational development
in a shared-power world. The book won the 1993 Terry McAdam Award from the Nonprofit
Management Association and was named the best book of 1992-93 by the Public
and Nonprofit Sector Division of the Academy of Management. In the completely
revised second edition, Crosby and Bryson expand their leadership model and
offer new insights and guidance for today's leaders.
Crosby, an associate professor at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs,
conducts workshops on and has written extensively about leadership and public
policy, women in leadership and strategic planning. She has conducted training
for senior managers of nonprofit, business and government organizations in the
U.S., United Kingdom, Poland and Ukraine.
Bryson is a professor of planning and public affairs and associate dean for
research and centers at the Humphrey Institute. He writes about leadership and
strategic planning for public and nonprofit organizations and consults widely
in the United States and abroad. Bryson has received many awards for his work,
including the General Electric Award for Outstanding Research in Strategic Planning
from the Academy of Management.
