BRYSON AND CROSBY TO DISCUSS THEIR BOOK AND SPEAK ON LEADERSHIP APRIL 20

Humphrey School Professors Barbara Crosby and John Bryson will discuss their recently revised book, Leadership for the Common Good from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the Wilkins Room (215 HHH). This event is free and open to the public.

When it was first published in 1992, Leadership for the Common Good presented a revolutionary approach to community and organizational development in a shared-power world. The book won the 1993 Terry McAdam Award from the Nonprofit Management Association and was named the best book of 1992-93 by the Public and Nonprofit Sector Division of the Academy of Management. In the completely revised second edition, Crosby and Bryson expand their leadership model and offer new insights and guidance for today's leaders.

Crosby, an associate professor at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, conducts workshops on and has written extensively about leadership and public policy, women in leadership and strategic planning. She has conducted training for senior managers of nonprofit, business and government organizations in the U.S., United Kingdom, Poland and Ukraine.

Bryson is a professor of planning and public affairs and associate dean for research and centers at the Humphrey School. He writes about leadership and strategic planning for public and nonprofit organizations and consults widely in the United States and abroad. Bryson has received many awards for his work, including the General Electric Award for Outstanding Research in Strategic Planning from the Academy of Management.

Leadership for the Common Good is available at local bookstores or online through Amazon.com or Jossey-Bass at www.josseybass.com.
