October 1 Conference Will Address Women's Employment After Childbirth

On October 1, 2004, the Humphrey School will host a Signature Study addressing "After Birth: Policies for Healthy Women, Families, and Workplaces." The daylong conference, designed to bring together University faculty members, staff, and students; activists; policymakers; health care professionals; employers; and community members, will examine the critical issues of women's employment after childbirth, the role of family and medical leave policies, and families' division of household labor. Nationally recognized speaker Susan Maushart, Ph.D., author of The Mask of Motherhood: How Becoming a Mother Changes Everything and Why We Pretend It Doesn't will give the keynote address.
