Gender and Judging
Since women began serving on courts, social scientists began asking whether they decided cases differently from their men colleagues. Most empirical scholarship has been critical of this essentialist framing and found few differences. Differences found in Israel, Croatia, or the United States vary enormously from study to study. Law and Society scholars have found many more sophisticated questions to ask about gender and judging besides whether women were different from men.
