Access your Network Drives from Home or Laptop Computer

The following instructions are for connecting to the Network Share Space from a Non-Humphrey Computer using the Windows operating system.

We have created seperate instructions for Apple users at the following URL.
Apple instructions for connecting to HHH Network Drives

Setting up your Computer

Installing the VPN Client

First, you'll need to have access to the UMN network. This requires that you install the VPN client offered by the University.

It can be downloaded from: http://vpn.umn.edu

Follow the instructions on that page to setup the VPN client.

Connecting to the University Network

Start the VPN Connection

Start>All Programs>Cisco> Click VPN Client

Click Connect

Enter your x.500 username and password when prompted.

Login to the Network Share Space

Open My Computer Click the menu Tools -> Map network Drive...

Type in the following in the Folder:

\\hhh.ad.umn.edu\hhh$

Do NOT check the box next to Reconnect at logon.

Login with

username: AD\<x.500 username> password: <x.500 password>

It's IMPORTANT that you include AD\ before your x.500 and that AD is in ALL CAPS! Otherwise your username will be refused.

It will open a new window with all of your Network Drive Folders listed.
