- A four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university or foreign equivalent
- Competence in college-level algebra (including facility with functional notations; algebraic manipulation of polynomials, logs, and exponentials; and graphic representation of equations)
- Completed an introductory course in microeconomics with grade of B or better (a macroeconomics class or single semester course in general economics does not fulfill this requirement)
- Computer competency in MS Excel and Word
- English language competence. If English is not your native language, you must pass the TOEFL or IELTS exam with a minimum score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based), 100 (internet based, minimum 22 on each section), or 7 for the IELTS. TOEFL or IELTS scores must be less than two years old.
- Completion of an undergraduate course in political science that analyzes political institutions (state and local, national, comparative, or international) and presents basic concepts in political analysis is strongly recommended
If you have inadequate preparation in these prerequisites but are otherwise qualified for admission, your application still may be considered (at the discretion of the faculty admissions committee), but you will be required to take the relevant courses before beginning the program or taking core courses.
