Young Women's Leadership Award 2010
Teenwise Minnesota (formerly the Minnesota Organization for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Parenting)
The Center on Women and Public Policy congratulates the MOAPPP/Teenwise Minnesota, winner of the 2010 Hubert H. Humphrey School’s
Young Women’s Leadership Award.
Teenwise Minnesota is the statewide leader in promoting adolescent
sexual health, preventing adolescent pregnancy and gaining support for
adolescent parents. We achieve this by developing, strengthening and
advancing science-based policies and programs.
"In my nearly two years on the Board at MOAPPP (Teenwise minnesota), I’ve found that MOAPP exemplifies a spirit of promotion and support for young women’s leadership. Both inside and outside the organization, MOAPPP is reflexive in continually improving the participation of young women. I’ve been quite impressed, as a young woman, that the Board and staff have welcomed my contributions and ideas as they’ve nurtured my capacity as a leader. I’ve personally learned from my experiences, and see that MOAPPP exhibits a broader commitment to young women leaders in two important ways: decision-making and advocacy." Heather Kilgore
This award recognizes organizations that have made a demonstrated commitment to advancing the leadership of women ages 25-35 in Minnesota. A committee of young women selected this year’s winner. They all serve on non-profit boards as part of a Humphrey Institute, Center on Women and Public Policy course.
