| Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Contest
The Center on Women and Public Policy is sponsoring a contest to get Humphrey students excited about Minnesota's Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Program.
If you weren't already aware, this is the program that allows MN residents
to contribute up to $50 a year to a political party or candidate for state
office and receive the money back from the MN Department of Revenue in
6-8 weeks.
How does the contest work?
Find 5 MN residents to contribute $50 to a political candidate or political party of their choice by educating them about the Minnesota Political Contribution Refund (PCR) Program and providing them with the refund application form.
List your 5 contributors on the "pledge form" and turn it in to Amber Shipley at the Center on Women and Public Policy by October 31st.
Come to our Lick Voter Apathy Ice Cream Social in the Freeman Commons from 12-1pm on October 31st and win prizes for all your hard work!
Why a PCR Contest?
The PCR Contest is an effort to help Humphrey Students engage in the 2006 election cycle by expressing their voices through political donations. The effort will not cost you or the other people you find anything. And by participating, you'll have a chance to win way cool prizes!
What do I need to participate?
You'll need just two things to participate in the PCR Contest:
- A contest "pledge form" with more information about the PCR program (download it here)
- 5 PCR forms for your friends from the Minnesota Department of Revenue (download them here)
Who should you contribute to?
You can search party websites or use lists of endorsed candidates from organizations that you like. We put together a sheet of favorite endorsement lists and some targeted races for you to consider -- download that here. For quick browsing, our favorites are:
