| "Fast Feminists" contribute to Melpomene effort
On Saturday May 5, the "Fast Feminists" -- CWPP director Sally Kenney and students (Coral Butson, Tamara Downs-Schwei, Katie Peacock, Kathryn Pearson, Melissa Reed, Emily Saunoi-Sandgren, Libby Sharrow, Sarah Taylor-Nanista and Kate Troy) -- completed a 5K run in support of Melpomene.
Melpomene was named for the first woman to run the marathon in Greece in 1896. Their mission is to help women and girls achieve adequate nutrition, physical activity, rest, and personal safety by removing barriers at the policy level and by introducing innovative practices at the community level. They are committed to addressing circumstances and confronting policies that create barriers, especially for girls and women with few life opportunities, to learning the components of good health and gaining access to the means to achieve them.
