October 27th, 2011: The Consulate General of Canada, Will Steger Foundation and University of Minnesota Institute on the Environment and Humphrey School of Public Affairs hosted a symposium on The Changing Arctic. Canada and United States share interests in and responsibility for a changing Arctic.
The Center hosted a public forum with Senator Al Franken, university and private sector leaders to discuss how to build Minnesota jobs through energy innovations. The event will focused on the importance of the renewable energy industry for Minnesota and the United States. Innovation is especially key for developing new energy solutions that will lead to job growth and a more sustainable economy. But policy can either encourage or discourage innovation. Senator Franken presented his perspective on Minnesota’s national leadership in clean energy and the interaction between innovation, clean energy and the economy. A new decade with a new legislature and gubernatorial administration. We took stock of our current telecommunications policy and developed ideas to lead Minnesota into the future.
