Center for Science, Technology, and Public Policy

About CSTPP Research

The center conducts research at the intersection of science and technology with public policy.  Our research teams have a commitment to explore science and technology policy goals as they relate to security, economic growth, health, environmental sustainability, and education. We also hope to address the forthcoming policy issues of climate change, and its impact on the economic sectors. Furthermore, we like to think of policy on a locally, regionally, nationally and internationally level.  Parts of the center's research looks at the impact of science and technology on political and economic relations among nations, and our faculty has partnered with institutions around the globe. Most importantly however, we aim to aid in the development of governmental polices that will support research and development, (R&D) and the implementation of science and technology informed recommendations at all levels of governance.

Main policy areas:

Biotechnology policy; nanotechnology policy; public perception of emerging technologies; renewable energy programs/policy; air pollution policy; chemical risk management; great lakes environmental planning and management policy; water policy; regulatory and legal analysis of emerging technologies; climate change; global trade and economics; science policy development; science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education policy; telecommunications and information technology policy.
