Presentations from Congestion Pricing Workshop on January 25, 2007The Environmental Defense and the Humphrey Institute on January 25, 2007, co-sponsored a workshop on congestion pricing and urban partnerships for transportation professionals, at which US DOT Assistant Secretary of Transportation discussed the US DOT's Urban Partnerships Program. The workshop discussed how various cities across the world are successfully curbing traffic congestion, reducing pollution, raising new revenue, and improving public transport and efficient goods movement. The featured speaker was Gunnar Soderholm, the key government official who implemented Stockholm's congestion pricing system that cut traffic by 25%, congestion delay by 30-50%, and pollution by 14%. The workshop also included presentations on other successful congestion and pollution cutting pricing projects in London, Germany, Norway and Singapore.
