Buying Time Video

This 10-minute film demonstrates the basic ideas and technologies of High-Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes, which are expressway lanes that can be used for free by buses and carpools, and which single-occupant vehicles can use by paying a fee. This helps to utilize extra capacity on carpool lanes and gives solo drivers a way to bypass congestion. This type of system is in use in Orange County and San Diego, California. Winner of the 1998 Aegis Award!
