Tom Sorel became the Minnesota Commissioner of Transportation in 2008. He has 30 years’ experience with the U.S. Dept. of Transportation Federal Highway Administration including major projects team leader in the Washington, D.C. Office of Infrastructure and U.S. DOT intermodal liaison for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Sorel has an MBA degree from Thomas College, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the SUNY-Buffalo and experience in executive management, project management and conflict management.
