Initiatives:
The Humphrey Institute Policy Fellows Program offers practical training in public affairs leadership for emerging leaders seeking new experiences and skills. For the past 17 years, the Humphrey Institute Policy Fellows program has trained more than 400 Minnesotans, many of whom are now influential figures in their communities.
Minnesota has long been a leader in developing well-trained election administrators, with local, county and state-level election administrators consistently ranking among the best in the nation. Minnesota has also been an innovator in the administration of elections, including early adoption of optical scanning voting equipment, Election Day registration, post-election audits, and instant runoff voting. Minnesota's strengths - excellent administrators and key innovations - are the basis for a new collaboration between the University of Minnesota and the Office of the Secretary of State - The Minnesota Program on Excellence in Election Administration.
The Center's Minnesota Redistricting project provides non-partisan information and analysis of Minnesotan elections, the competitiveness of legislative races, and the consequences of weak competition as well as public education and engagement that helps to place redistricting reform on the agendas of the public and policy makers.
