"Meet the Press" Across America
at the University of Minnesota

The Humphrey School’s Center for the Study of Politics and Governance hosted a forum with “Meet the Press” for part of its Across America series– special discussions with key political and community leaders–at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Ted Mann Concert Hall.

“Meet the Press” moderator David Gregory spoke with Governor Pawlenty about politics, the Republican Party, and some of the major issues facing the country today, including the economy, immigration, and national security, followed by questions from the audience.

For over 60 years, Meet the Press has featured headline-making interviews with world-leaders and news makers.

Since David Gregory was named moderator in 2008, he has covered the Obama administration from all angles, reporting extensively on the economy, health care reform and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gregory is carrying on in the Meet the Press tradition while bringing new voices into to the Sunday morning conversation, and the program into a new era.

David Gregory joined NBC News in 1995. He has covered three presidential campaigns in 2000, 2004, and 2008, and served as NBC's Chief White House Correspondent during the entire span of George W. Bush's presidency. Gregory was named Moderator of "Meet the Press" on December 7, 2008. Since then, he has covered the Obama administration from all angles, reporting extensively on the economy, health care reform, and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Tim Pawlenty ImageGovernor Tim Pawlenty

Governor Tim Pawlenty was elected Minnesota's 39th Governor in 2002 and is currently serving his second term. Pawlenty is gaining a national reputation as a Republican party leader and is considered a potential candidate in the 2012 presidential election.

Prior to becoming Governor, Pawlenty has served as a criminal prosecutor, Eagan City Councilmember, and ten-year member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, including four years as House Majority Leader.
