Wilhelmine MillerWilhelmine Miller, MS, Ph.D., is an associate research professor in the Department of Health Policy, George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services. She serves as Associate Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Commission to Build a Healthier America, and coordinated the development of the Commission’s report and recommendations, Beyond Health Care: New Directions to a Healthier America. As a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee on Reviewing Evidence to Identify Highly Effective Clinical Services, Miller co-authored Knowing What Works in Health Care: A Roadmap for the Nation (2008). Her research focuses on value-based health care coverage and policies to reduce social and economic inequalities in health.
Before joining GW, Dr. Miller served as study director at IOM for seven years. She co-directed the Consequences of Uninsurance project, which issued six reports, including Care without Coverage: Too Little, Too Late; Hidden Costs, Value Lost: Uninsurance in America, and Insuring America’s Health. Dr. Miller served for 14 years as a policy analyst and social scientist within the Department of Health and Human Services. She has taught philosophy, ethics, and public policy at Georgetown University and Trinity College, Washington, D.C.
