Summer 2006: Candidate Policy Forum with Peter Hutchinson (IP)

As part of its 2006 Elections Project, the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance hosted a series of policy talks featuring candidates for statewide elective office. The purpose of the series was to provide an opportunity for each candidate to discuss their substantive concerns about critical challenges facing Minnesota and the nation, and to offer recommendations on appropriate policy responses.

Peter Hutchinson's presentation was the fourth in a series of policy talks hosted by the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance featuring candidates for statewide elective office. Peter Hutchinson is the Independence Party-endorsed candidate for Governor.

Peter Hutchinson

Peter Hutchinson co-founded and serves as president of Public Strategies Group, Inc., a consulting firm that works with government organizations. From 1994 to 1998, Hutchinson headed a Public Strategies Group team that filled the role of superintendent of Minneapolis Public Schools. Previously, Hutchinson served as state finance commissioner under DFL Governor Rudy Perpich, and as president of external affairs and chair of the foundation for Dayton Hudson Corp. He earned an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree from the Woodrow School of Public and International Affairs, and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
