Star Tribune Minnesota Poll Archive

The Minnesota Poll is one of the oldest continuously published polls in the nation with its first news story published on March 19, 1944. Since then, it has helped Minnesotans understand themselves, their lifestyles, and their politics. Perhaps the most important feature of the poll is that it offers a historical record of how Minnesota public opinion has changed over time, and what the key issues of the day were over the decades, from gasoline rationing in the 1940s through racial issues in the 1970s to the political polarization of today.

This treasure trove of historical information may be useful to students, researchers, journalists, and citizens. The Center for the Study of Politics and Governance has archived the most recent polls (2000-present) and will also continue to both update the archive with new polls as well as extend the Archive further back in time.

Note: Unless otherwise indicated, each poll is based on a random sample of adults from the state of Minnesota. Each table indicates whether the poll was conducted of a sample of adults generally or likely voters. A reference to "LV" in the polling tables means the survey's sample was of "likely voters." Surveys that lack the "LV" designation were based on a sample of adults generally. The reference to "MoE" in the polling tables refers to the survey's margin of error.
